Winter over the old houses at Hornbergsgården in Skärplinge

Today the busscompany UL once again made me have to wait out in the cold due to delays! I had to spend one extra hour between busses in the village of Skärplinge, Norduppland-Sweden!

I took the oportunity to visit the beautiful Hornbergsgården, also called Skärplinge Gammelgård where they have a great collection of old houses from the area.
The area is closed for the season, but still beautiful in all the snow.

The Russians burned down everything they could here 1719, not many homes or houses survived, but they have one unsual house from Fälandsbo that survived the Russians. It's from 1647 and have once been a house on stilts to protect against wild animals like wolfs.
There is so many beautiful things to see here, so enjoy:

It's hard to imagine the summer festivities here, National day celebrations and all the music gatherings, but I really enjoyed todays visit as well.

I'm ending with my photo from a Swedish National Day celebration here, Per

Stockholm-Uppsala winter wonderland

This week I worked in Stockholm for 3 days. Hectic and fun days with a lot of work during the days at the Jewellery company Engelbert Stockholm, specially to handing out jewellery for the Fashion celebrities at ELLE galan 2016.

I did not have much time to enjoy the exceptional winter weather, more thatn on the way to and from work. And here we go:

STOCKHOLM:
Nybroviken/Strandvägen
 Stockholm Ström
The little house I'm staying at when in Stockholm is from the end of 1600's
The view from the house over Stockholms Ström and the Old Town, here with the cruise ship from Birka Cruises.

On sunday it was time to go home to Lövstabruk in Norduppland, but I took a long walk to the train station in the splendid weather:

Stockholms Ström, the island Skeppsholmen with the ship hostel "af Chapman"
 s/s Riddarholmen
 Facade of the Royal Palace
 The House of Knights
Stockholms ström with the City Hall and Stockholm Waterfront hotel

UPPSALA:
Due to problem with a connecting train in Uppsala where I stranded there for 2 hours, but the weather was great there as well and I was properly dressed to wander along the Fyris River:
The Uppsala Museum are situated in a old mill along the river
On the way back to the train station did I pass by the newly re-built department store Åhléns with it's exhiting facade reminding of a 20's cruiseship
Next stop on the long way home was the little town of Tierp where the sun was going down at the train station

With that I will leave you for this time, now I will enjoy a couple of great winter days at home!
Hope You do the same, Per!

Saturday walk in the Winter Wonderland of Lövstabruk

Yesterday it was -15C and sun in our Winter Wonderland of Lövstabruk.
A absolutely amazing day and I took a 3 hour walk with my camera to enjoy the weather, snow and beauty of Lövstabruk with surroundings, Norduppland-Sweden.

First I had to shovel snow around my house, but it's crispy light and was done in no time.
Back of my garden.
 In front of my house
The clocktower along the main road
The storage bulding for the old store
Fägatan (the old road for transport of lifestock)
Road sign for "Yra höns" = Whimsical chickens
I love this house on the North street
The power of the water of the Risforsriver was the reason of the establishment of Lövstabruk and the Iron manufacturing here for nearly 500 years ago, first by farmers, then the state and finally by the 13 generations of the De Geer family and the immigrants from Wallonia-Belgium
 The lower damm
The buildings for the Horseshoe & Nail smiths is the proper entrance to the wast forrests
After an hour in the forest along the Skälsjö road where it was so quiet and no wind, just beauty did I turn back to the village, and to family De Geers manor house which has its front this direction.
In this stunning "house" do I have the pleasure to work as a guide

Back home after 3 hours, loving every second of them!

Thank You for Your visit, Welcome back!
