Now are Evenings the best time to work in the garden

Just now it's too hot to work in the gardens in the middle of the day, so early mornings, or evenings.

Since the sun going down around 22:00 there is a good 4 hours to do some job.

Like shifting stones for a new path!

But first: The Great Globe Thistle opened up its first flower today and quickly the Bumble Bees where there, I love it, my garden is buzzing all day long as I hoped :D

And just below in the shadow is the Dahlia "Playa Blanca" brighten up with it's first flower as well

In my shadow garden behind the "barn" have some work been done, yes I do actually working in the garden as well as taking photos of pretty flowers, they all need a start :D

Some of You maybe remember the mudbath it was there when I started this spring, if not, here it IS

Digging new flowerbeds here is always intresting, and hard work. Since there wheren't any Garbage collecting in the old days, people digged holes in their garden and dumped the stuff there. I find a lot of animal bones, porcelain, rusty metal, corks,... but mostly rocks and slagstones.

My Yellow "Meadow-Rue"/"Aklejruta" is the first to bloom in the part to the west, but more is coming

It looks pretty empty now, but these plants will be pretty large so I space them out a bit and have planted a lot of different ground cover plants to keep the moist here in the future.

Here to the East have the Rhododendrons had their amazing show, and now it's the different Day Lillies time to show off. Here the "Bugle weed"/"Revsuga" quickly cover the ground.

Next to the shaddow flower bed is the Irisbed. My neighbor cats use this as their toilet so many Irises are gone :(, but I'm continuing my task and have planted a lower Pink/White Geranium to cover the ground here so the cats have to find somewhere else to do their dumps. The Geraniums will also give a soft contrast to the sharp Iris leafs.

The Willow to the left was a braided stick I bought at the Nordic Garden Fair from some Danes.

I put it there for fun, and since it's the lowest most moist part of my garden so I thought I could use it to suck up some water.

It seems to like it there

Not being a Fuchsia Lover/Expert, this "Fuchsia Jubilee" makes me change my mind!

I love it by my evening coffee place and it's quickly growing to a small bush.

Garden Inspiration: Landqvists out on the Uppland planes

July 2nd it was the day of the Roses in Sweden and I always wanted a Canadian Louis Bugnet rose (the little one I bought in the fall died).

I knew they had it on "Trägårn" in Söderfors so I did set out going there to get it, just on the day of the Roses as a Good Luck thing.

I took the bus from my beloved Lövstabruk to Skärplinge, changed bus to Tierp to there change to a 3rd bus to Söderfors and "Trägårn".

During this time did I text my friend Evy to ask if she needed something, and she texted me that "Trägårn" are closed Mon-Wed!??? I checked, they where closed, being a Rose expert on Day of Roses or not!

I changed my plan, googled and saw that a Garden center south of Uppsala was open, "Landqvist", AND since it was the day of Roses they had 25% off all of them!

I changed bus, took one Tierp to Uppsala and from there out on the countryside towards a old historic area called Danmark.

Getting off the bus (the 5th since the morning), it was hot, sunny and gorgeous, but still a bit to walk to Landqvist (far right on this photo) that is in the village of Danmarks Kulla

It was a wonderful promenade in the midst of the fields

Coming closer to the area Danmarks Kulla I saw this weathered sign

And the first thing You see when there is this magnificent barn

I LOVE the stylish and ellegant way they put their name in thick steel letters on the barn wall

Landqvists is established 1922 and is still in the same family!

I fell in love with this Clematis growing against a cottage wall, could not find the name, but the flowers where large and the shifting in colours very photogenique

A very pleasant experience, and before heading home again did I of course find my "Louis Bugnet" that have given me pure pleasure since :D

The Leufsta Peony in many forms and a strange onion at our cottage

In my village Lövstabruk I often visit Josephina and her Lövstabruks Trädgårdsmästeri/Garden center from 1730's.

I love the athomsphere plus it's a pleasure to chat with Josephine the Gardener/Owner which is passionate about old plants and old garden traditions.

She have a lot of older Pelargoniums in the greenhouse

There is some traditional plants from Lövstabruks Manor house and garden that have been there for many, many years and it is hard to actually say where they come from and when.

One of them that atleast have been here from the end of 1800's, which then where pictured in the then German style garden and that is whats now called the Leufsta Peony.

You can find it here in the Manor House garden and green house, but also in many of the gardens in the village.

It's actually a few different versions of it and Josephine think it has been 7 variations from the beginning.

I have one of them planted in my garden this spring, but will not know until next year hopefully what colour I got. Exciting!

I planted them in my Iris flowerbed to accent the sharp Iris leafs

Yesterday I wen't to our summer cottage by the Baltic Sea & the river Dalälven to re-dig the composts.

On the way there do I pass these beautiful fields of summer flowers, Blue bells just now.

Well at the cottage I'm always enjoying my mothers cottage garden and it's flowers

We composting everything here, from the garden and the kitchen, with great results. It's such a satisfaction to know you're doing the right thing, and get rewarded with brown gold!

Down by the water we recently discovered a new plant down there in the edge.

We first thought it was a weed, but it looked strange and tasted/smelled Chives/Gräslök but is much sturdier and longer.

Yesterday I discovered a small thicker opening high up on the grass not bigger than a cwntimeter, and out looked small small pinkish onions and a very small yellow flower!

It tastes like mild onion!

Is it anyone that can tell me what it is?
