Signe Tillisch coming home and New Flowerbeds in making

Two amazing days in the garden and it just get warmer and lighter by the day!

Perfect to be outside and forget time and have a thermos with coffee out there to be able to sit down for a Fika/coffee rbeak now and then to reflect.

In a few days time our village Garden center: Lövstabruks Trädgårdsmästeri opening up, can hardly wait

Today I wen't to Fredriksson's Plant in Östhammar to pick up my Apple tree "Signe Tillisch", a old Danish kind which I love in Apple Pies, and can be used far into the fall.
Well, I don't have a car, or drivers license for that matter. 4 meter tall Signe and I had to take the bus back home to Lövstabruk. But now she's home :D

I have started to work with my half shadow flowerbed north side of my barn. It's in shadow between 13:00 & 16:00 in the part I worked now.
First down is the Park Rhododendron Yakushimanum "Fantastica", 2x Bugle Ajuga Reptans/Revsuga & a Day Lily/Daglilja "Joan Senior".
More to come....
On the same north side of the barn, but with 80% shadow I plant Ferns and others along the wall
The one above have no name, the one below is the stunning Dryopleris Affinis Fern

I also finished the preparations for the north bed in my "Formal" garden
It was hard work, a lot of slag stone/slaggsten and roots from the Snowberry/Snöbär bush, but worth it, the soil is amazing. When I can afford it I will buy a metal edge to put towards the hedge.

In the corner did I put a Japanese Cherry bush that I rooted myself. To give it a break from the Snowberry did I put it in a deep large bottomless plastic pot. We'll see if it survive!

In front of it is a large bowlshaped planter which i will make in to a water feature later,

And in the other end of the garden have the fight against the Nettle forrest/Brännässleskog begun.
There will be a path in the middle to the woodland, the Tarpaulins/Presenningar will be there 1-2 years, not pretty, but a must.

I Loooove when the garden get mixed up with the nature like the edges of the Snowberry bushes at the entrance
The beautiful White forrest Anemone/Vitsippa coming in uninvited, but oh so welcome!

Other progress in my garden just now:

My Climbing Hydrangea/Klätterhortensia already react quickly a few days after coming in the soil
These fantastic Narcissus actually coming from IKEA and one of those cheap pots with bulbs You can buy there.
The Rhubarb I got from Evy (unknown kind) are so amazingly powerful and a joy to look at
Inside have my seedlings of the Organic Cucumber "Picolino" F1 grown out of the 1st pot and now put in larger full size ones until the moving out

I hope You all have a great time wherever You are!
Don't forget to see the beauty that surround us, small or large!
"Aspectus Forma"

Sincerely, Per!

Cow Manure & Ramson Cod Soup, both very good but not together!

After a few days of drizzly very much needed rain is it great garden weather again!

The other day my village gardenfriend Evy and I went to get Cow Manure! 10 50kg's should be enough for my garden just now.
I put it in all the Pallet collars, both for Veggies and Flowers plus some where I want to kickstart new growth of the Snowberry hedges at the entrance.

This is October last year when I moved in!
The area around the wet areas where totally neglected and the Nettles where superhigh.
This is how it looks now, a fantastic untouched Deciduous forest/Lövskog with a rich birdlife.
To the far right I want to create a seating area, as well under the big tree to the left where I now feed the birds.
The ground just now: Nettles (as well as Thistles & Ground Elder/Kirskål), food for some, but far too much of it for me.
I decided to keep big parts of it covered with Tarpaulin/Presenning the next couple of years to kill it off naturally.
I kept a open alley in the middle where I will have a path later to access the wet areas.
This is how it looks from the new seating area.

People that know me know that one or two Fika breaks is a part of my gardening pleasure, so today when the sun was shining
My favorite Mug made by Susanne Thurfjell here in the village :D

This photo is taken from the other side of the stream and road. Here did the people have veggies and fruit fields in the old days, and I discovered a lot of Rhubarb plants and two large Black Currant bushes.
I have already re-covered the Rhubarbs, and today I took care of the rest.

I did not only re-cover Black Currants today, I also digged up one neglected one on the border to my neighbor. Here I instead will plant a mixed hedge (Lilacs, Hansa Roses,..) to protect the Veggies paths from the cold Northeast winds.
Happy discovery, the Rhubarbs I got from Evy and planted in the fall start to show it's beauty :D
Another happy discovery, it  grows a lot of White Forrest Anemone/Vitsippa by the hedge at my entrance. As well as we like it at our cottage, I love it here as well :D

Inside my house up in the flower room does the Amaryllis come up for the season. I have been buying ready bulbs for Christmas and also bulbs in Amsterdam. When bloomed out I have put them in a pile in a wide pot and kept them outside in the summers, now they have a normal flowering season, not Christmas :D
I took seeds from one of them last year, put them in soil a month ago and now I have a small Amaryllis leaf coming up :D
Soon time to put this Danish braided Willow/Pil in the soil.
My little Maple tree is still alive, as well as the Maple seeds I put in the pot

Since we have A LOT of Ramson/Ramslök did I include it in tonights dinner, a soup/stew with:
Ramson, Cod, Potatoes, Broccoli, Chili, Ginger, Selleri, Saffron & Crème Fraiche
Bon Apetite, Per!

Wonderful feeling of Spring & Preparations for Climbing Roses & Peonies

Back in my garden after a hectic time in Stockholm where I worked with Jewellery during the viewings at Bukowskis Auction house "Fashion and Diamonds".
And what a comeback, sun and around +15C, fantastic and I used every second because it's soon cold again.

Along the south end of my house where it's now just graveled parking, I want climbing Roses and Peones. The roses because it's a two storey empty wall, only with my bedroom window on the second floor and I need something with height.
I already started with a Pink New Dawn in one corner last fall and it survived.
My plan is to plant in pallet collars instead of digging deep down in the compact graveled ground.

First assemble the natural untreated pallet collars
I glazed them black to match the buildings
I took away the gravel and put down the collars, leved and screwed the in the wall and to eachother
It start to look great! Next is to cover the inside with black plastic and drape the botton to let water through plus stop the weed. I will also dig out pits for the Peonies that I have ordered to be delivered in the fall.
Meanwhile I will have a lot of summer flowers and perennial flowers for the edges.
On the left side have I planted the reliable Climbing Rose "New Dawn" that already coming fine, and I have ordered the Rose for the right side, the new "Iceberg Clg".

Fika break in the warm sun
The Post woman came with a great delivery while I had my coffee: From Gourmet Garage did I receive exciting seeds; Borlotto Beans and a rare Salvia "Nana Blue".
And as a really nice moving in gift from Anna at Gourmet Garage I got Lemon salt from Italy "Fior di Sale al Limone"

After the break did I take the bicycle to the north side of the village, there outside the gates in the forrest can this amazing field of Snowdrops be found, amazing!

In the Manor house park did I find these Chionodoxa/Vårstjärna with the first Bee of the season :D

Today's Fika/coffee break with a Semla was special, the Post woman came with the newest issue of the Garden Magazine and a book I've been longing for: "Lundens Skugga" (In the shadow of the Woodland) by my friend Hannu Sarenström

That inspired me to clean up in the area where I plan my woodland, it's a huge task and will take some years to complete.

Today I discovered this little Daisy/Tusensköna in the lawn :D

I prepared one more pallet collar for the Garlic, with Coldpressed Linseed Oil

Inside my house do I have some branches I found in the forrest by a pile of logs, they are the bearer of spring :D

I have a small Walnut tree in a pot that I bought at the Hellekis Manor in Kinnekulle, it's going for it's 3rd year in a pot and seems to like it. It's too cold up here to plant it outside, so a Bonsai it will be.

I have been busy in the evenings re-planting all the Pelargoniums/Geraniums for the summer and are very grateful for my deep windows with a lot of space!

Have a great Spring All!
Regards, Per!
