The poetry of the February water

My village Lövstabruks ironmaking, economy and existance have been built on the water.
It never stops fascinating me, and since it's a mild February after a lot of snow are all the waterways full of powerfull water.

Enjoy the Poetry of the February water, Per!

Hope You enjoyed, Per!

Square Variations

As a new weaver at the Weaving cottage in Lövstabruk-Uppland do I try to learn it all.

There was a loom with a cotton warp of a really booring light murky purple/pink colour, a little bit 80's, tht no-one wanted to use.
They let me loose on that one and I used a lot of left over yarn of cotton and linen to create a few variations of the square pattern.

In the first variation did I follow the given pattern and used double linen threads of the same colour as the warp to get a damast effect!
The second variation, here I used cotton yarn in light and dark blue, and did a variation on the original pattern,
Third variation. Here I let go of the pattern and let the lenght of the double mix linen yarn in many pink variations decide when to shift the pattern.
In the fourth variation did I the same random weave as in the third, but with cotton and stronger colours.
In the final fifth version did I use green and purple linen, also in a random order, This will be a curtain for the opening to my studio.

Just taken out of another loom is my version of a old pattern where I picked my favorite parts and repeated them in blue and grey into a table cloth to match my favorite ceramics from the artist Susanne Thurfjell that also live here in Lövstabruk
Thank You all for this time, see You again, Per!

Saturday walk in the Winter Wonderland of Lövstabruk

Yesterday it was -15C and sun in our Winter Wonderland of Lövstabruk.
A absolutely amazing day and I took a 3 hour walk with my camera to enjoy the weather, snow and beauty of Lövstabruk with surroundings, Norduppland-Sweden.

First I had to shovel snow around my house, but it's crispy light and was done in no time.
Back of my garden.
 In front of my house
The clocktower along the main road
The storage bulding for the old store
Fägatan (the old road for transport of lifestock)
Road sign for "Yra höns" = Whimsical chickens
I love this house on the North street
The power of the water of the Risforsriver was the reason of the establishment of Lövstabruk and the Iron manufacturing here for nearly 500 years ago, first by farmers, then the state and finally by the 13 generations of the De Geer family and the immigrants from Wallonia-Belgium
 The lower damm
The buildings for the Horseshoe & Nail smiths is the proper entrance to the wast forrests
After an hour in the forest along the Skälsjö road where it was so quiet and no wind, just beauty did I turn back to the village, and to family De Geers manor house which has its front this direction.
In this stunning "house" do I have the pleasure to work as a guide

Back home after 3 hours, loving every second of them!

Thank You for Your visit, Welcome back!
