Garden Inspiration: A Wet Walk in Uppsala Botanical Garden

The other day it rained when I went to the Botanical garden in Uppsala to see the inspiring and beautiful Ikebana exhibit.
But on the way to and from the Orangerie (where the exhibit are) could I not resist to stop here and there to admire and take photos of the flowers, especially the Irises, my favorites (just now).
I love their elegance and for Sweden a exotic look.
Since my own newly made Iris flower bed probably will take a year or so to fully flower do I enjoy looking at theese.

Now it's also time for the Elderberry, very popular for cooking in Sweden, juices, aquavitae, sorbets,...
And the flowers are stunning, even the berries later.
I really liked this Elderberry, fantastic colours, but couldn't find a name
I wonder if this would give a different colour on the Elderberry juice?

On the wall to the Orangerie did I find this beautiful Paradise bush "Kolkwitzia Amabilis"
Water Lillies, always beautiful, but maybe even more so in rain!
This North American Alliun/Prärielök follow the shapes of the rain drops
Salvia, always stunning in huge rugs, these in flowerbeds outside one of the entrances
This Yellow Gentiana fascinated me, a really interesting shape
A few different Poppies
A Stemmacantha from Siberia & a delicate Saxifraga Sancta from Greece-Turkey
A elegant Laramie Columbine/Akleja from Wyoming and a huge rug of Lady's Mantle/Daggkåpa pushed down by the rain
In the Japanese part the Funkia/Hosta looking fantastic in rain
So ALL, I hope You enjoyed my Wet Walk as much as I did!¨
Take Care until next post!

Colourful shadows in my garden

These days when the heat is balming here in Sweden do I enjoy the more shadowy part of my garden.
Often I find that there is more intresting plants here as well, and I do my best to add more, both wild and tame :D

Off course is it the Rhododendrons that is showing of at this time: come rain, come shine, they still look fantastic.
This one I planted for a few weeks ago, and loving it!

Lady's Mantle/Daggkåpa
I always found Ferns fascinating and cannot get enough of taking photos of the birth process.
Off course was my visit to Stewart Island in New Zealand a amazing moment, Ferns in all sizes and shapes, whole forrests with them
The new Bugle Ajuga Reptans/Revsuga start to get its first blue flowers, looking good against the dark leaves
My Astilboides/Parasollblad start to recover after freezing down a couple of times
Another favorite, the Hostas
This is the Hosta Mediovariegata/Brokfunkia
Another Fern

And now it's the time for the Ramson/Ramslök to bloom and spread its mild fragance of onion

I hope You all have a great weekend, Per!

Rhubarbs and Rain, Excellent!

Today, at last, two good things happened!

I did harvest my first Rhubarb & it's raining!
We definately needed the rain after a very dry spring, and personally I definately needed to feel the taste of Rhubarbs after greedily looking at them growing.

First out is the Rhubarbs (of unknown kind) I found together with Black Currants in the old abandoned kitchen garden on the other side of the stream.
Hard labour digging and weeding payed off!

My first harvest :D
I did melt the sliced Rhubarbs on low heat with chopped fresh Ginger and a little bit of Ecological Cane Sugar and water
YUM, perfect to use on real full fat yoghurt like Turkish or Greek, but today I had it on my Oatmeal, soooooo gooood :9

Rain at last, my stream where I get all my water for my flower beds and veggie paths start to fill up again and all new plants get the water they need from above.
I got the "Lady's Mantle"/Jättedaggkåpa just for my photography, always been fascinated how the water stays on the leaves, and she did not disapoint today

At the Manor house the Apple Orchard shows promising beauty to come, can hardly wait

Have a fantastic day, Per!
